Welcome to this presentation of my work. My name is Frithjof Grimme, and I work as an allround artist, you might say. Allround artist, because I take a lot of interest in many different techniques and use of materials, styles and subjects.

I’ve always enjoyed visualising stories I heard, into drawings and paintings. Later that evolved into cover-illustrations for scripts and other illustrative designs like my daughters birth announcement card, bookmark illustrations for my family, very personal tattoo designs ( I just design!), personal illustrations for birthdays and weddings, paintings, wallpaintings, airbrushing…. anything you can think of!

And not only that… I have been producing a lot of Logo Designs for different underground parties in Amsterdam. With most of them I was involved in setting up and running. My share in these organisations was mostly the artistic designs of the logo’s and decorations for the venues. The last party I did, and DJ-ed on, was called Jolly Roger. When I quit this party, I still wanted to use the name though. Nowadays Jolly Roger is the name of the Logo Designs, Decorative Flags & Logo Backdrop department of the Fiendish Art Lab.

I also designed some Logo’s for products and shops and  stage-shows. For example, I did a lot af decorative artwork for a chopperbicycle shop called Wildkat Amsterdam. Sadly the shop became an online store, so only the Logo Design still exists, but all the wallpaintings are painted over. However, there’s still a lot of photo’s I took, to be seen on this site.

Because all these Logo Designs were meant for pr-purposes, the thought came up to somehow put them on big Logo Backdrops. At the same time I started to produce a lot of different designs for decorative Flags to hang on the walls of the venues. The same technique could be applied on the Backdrops and the Decorative Flags. This self-invented technique I developed and perfected, to produce these Flags and Backdrops, gives them a unique quality and texture. I’ve also been experimenting with a lot of different paints, like silver, gold and blacklight colours, to give them nice effects in the dark party venues. Another nice thing is that they can be folded up to fit into a plastic bag. So they’re easy to transport and stored away.

Most of these Flags ended up on the walls of my friends houses or were used for other parties. However the most eye-catching ones were the big Logo-Backdrops. They became very popular with stage shows, shops, parties and bands.
